Blogger Q&A tag

Karen from Two Tiny Hands has given me my first ever question and answer blogger tag. Basically it’s a list of questions for me to answer, then I get to set some other questions for other bloggers too. I love finding out more about the people behind blogs (I’m nosey – it comes with being a journalist) so if you’re not a blogger, maybe you’ll find some other great blogs to read too!

I found Karen’s blog through the #FamilyFun linky which runs every week. She has loads of messy play type posts which give me inspiration to do some fun activities at home with Miss Belle. I’m not at all crafty so hers is a go to blog for me when I’m feeling like experimenting a bit!

So here are Karen’s questions and my answers:

1. How long have you been blogging and what is your best and worst thing about it?

I started my blog at the end of June this year when I gave up my job to be a SAHM. My daughter still goes to nursery on a Wednesday so I foolishly thought Wednesday would be my ‘blog and jobs’ day. Turns out, blogging is mentally time consuming and you need to post regularly! My least favourite thing is all the promotion it involves on social media and other blogs through linkies. Although I’ve found some great blogs through them, it’s so time consuming! The best thing is when you write something that resonates with someone else and you get a nice comment. A Facebook friend who I went to uni with 10 years ago and haven’t seen since, messaged me to tell me she was enjoying my blog, and that meant such a lot.

2. How will you be spending Christmas this year?  Any crazy traditions?

This year we are going to my brothers for Christmas. It’s the second time we’ll have spent it there but the first time with three kids between us! It’ll be nice as I’ll get to see my nephews who I don’t see that much as they are up in York. We don’t really have any crazy traditions other than I always buy my Dad a Toblerone every year. We always joke… “Oh what can that triangular shaped thing be under the tree?” I can’t remember when I started doing it, but it’s definitely a family tradition of sorts!

3. What is your favourite dessert?  All the gooey details please..

Oh man this is hard. I am a huge chocolate lover so it’d have to be something chocolatey. I am going to say a Snickers inspired dessert I had at the Lavender House in Brundal in Norfolk. It’s a chocolatey peanuty caramel goodness thing of beauty!

4. What is your favourite room in your house?

Definitely our kitchen. We had it done last year and although having it fitted was a trauma in itself (a story for another time,) it’s lovely. We have wooden tops and it just feels nice and cosy. I’d love an old farm house with an aga, I’d be in heaven!!

5. In which ways do you entertain your children?

Miss Belle really loves a book and a jigsaw, so when we are at home these are our favourite things to do together. Otherwise it’s the park – slides and swings are always a winner. When Daddy’s home she’s all about playing with a ball and loves our VTech Sports Centre which we got her for her first birthday.

6. How do you store your memories?

On my phone! Seriously I’m screwed if I lose it! I do have a camera but everything is taken on my phone now. I use an app called Free Prints and each month you can get 45 photos (6×4) just for the postage price which is £4ish. I have printed loads and Miss Belle has two baby albums already. I just need to get round to adding more photos to them – at the moment they are in their wallets in a pile on my sideboard. I like to look back to find the date I took them so I can add it to the album. A task for a rainy day when I don’t feel like blogging! Of course I’m now using my blog to document some of our lovely family moments too.

7. Are you a savoury or sweet type of person?

Sweet – chocolate all the way!

8. If you could go anywhere would it be?

Hmm this is a hard one as I love to travel, so there are so many places I want to go to. I think I’d have to say the Grand Canyon. I would love to go there and fly over it.

9. Is there anything you’ve ever regretted?

Hmm, this is a sad one. My Nana died from cancer when I was 13. She was only really ill for about 6 weeks and passed away at home. I could have gone to see her but I was scared I’d find it too upsetting and thought I would be better to have nice memories of her. Afterwards I regretted not going to say goodbye.

10. What is the best thing you have ever made?

Hmm well since becoming a blogger, this website! But actually I would say some sugar paste roses. I’m not really into crafts, but I love to bake and I have a very good friend who’s excellent at baking. So, we went on a sugar craft course a few years ago. We made sugar paste rose flowers and although my friends’ were way better than mine, they were hands down the best thing I have ever made!

What a fun post to read! Sorry to hear about your regrets! Sometimes we don’t know what’s best especially when younger. I would also like to visit the Grand Canyon!

Haha thanks, they were hard work. You do not want to see the disaster of a gingerbread house I helped my husband do last night though!! X

I think gingerbread houses are always a disaster in my experience! But they taste good and I’m sure Miss belle will still enjoy! x

I love reading these kinds of posts. I learn so much it seems in each one. (I think you need to provide a link to what an aga is because I’ve never heard of this until now. I had to do some research on it so I got a bit sidetracked. However, I can see why you have one on your wish list.)

Those sugar roses are beautiful. I can see why you’re proud to have made them.

It was neat learning more about you.
