Before Christmas I started to see a few reviews of JORD women’s and men’s wooden watches online and was so jealous, they looked like the perfect gift for someone special. So I was absolutely over the moon when JORD approached me to see if I’d like to review a men’s wooden watch. We chose the Kosso and Midnight Blue from their Conway series and think it’s truly stunning.
The perfect gift
Matt doesn’t really do expensive gadgets, but one thing he does appreciate is a nice watch. I got him an engraved one for our wedding, and he has a couple of other styles to wear on different occasions, but not a wooden one. So this was perfect and well timed right in time for Valentine’s Day!
All I had to do was pick which men’s wooden watch he wanted from the JORD website, which is really easy to navigate. They ask you to measure the wrist so that the watch can be accurate and they provide a tape measure you can print out and use to be exact. We did this, but wanted to be cautious so left a bit too much room – our mistake! And something that we easily fixed later.
I was so excited when the watch came. It’s delivered from the US, and arrived perfectly packaged in a beautiful wooden box. It has a tray which pulls out, which we joked could be used for other jewellery. Actually it’s a great place to keep the spare link and the nice cleaning cloth they provide.
The design of this watch is right up Matt’s street. The quality of the watch shines though. Each watch is hand crafted with natural kosso wood. The large face with the deep blue background is gorgeous and gives a really sophisticated look. It displays hours, minutes, seconds and the date.
When I got the watch out of the box the pin which held the top of the strap to the face fell out. After putting it back in, it slid out a few times. I didn’t want to risk losing it completely so headed to Timpson at our local Tesco and asked them to have a look. They thought it needed a slightly thicker pin, which they sorted there and then. It only took five minutes and a donation to charity (nice touch Timpson!) but it would have obviously have been better if we hadn’t needed to get it looked at. I know all the watches are hand crafted, so perhaps the hole for the pin was just a bit too big on this one. We also took a link out to get a better fit as we’d been too cautious when we measured up, but that was our mistake!
Stylish and modern
Once back home Matt put it on and said how nice it felt to wear. It’s not heavy, and didn’t pull on the hairs on his arms. Overall I think it’s a lovely men’s wooden watch. It’s elegant and really striking. The perfect gift for a loved one.
The Kosso and Midnight Blue men’s wooden watch retails at $229//£181.
